World Mission Sunday takes place next Sunday 23rd October.
World Mission Sunday is the Holy Fathers annual appeal to support overseas Mission and Missionaries. You can help right now. Please donate €4 by texting the word ‘Mission’ to 50300 or donate at www.missio.ie or call 01 497 2035. To learn more, go to www.missio.ie. On this day we think of struggling parishes in the growing church throughout Africa, South America, Asia, and Oceania. The collection taken up on World Mission Sunday is a crucial lifeline to all the dioceses and aids communities to build schools, health centres, parish halls and churches. It also supports in the education of future leaders in faith. October and World Mission Sunday is also a time for the faithful of the world to show their appreciation towards the work of overseas Missionaries. The generosity offered will be used to support Missionary activities in over 1,100 struggling dioceses, mostly in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.

The Purpose of Prayer in our daily lives….
The purpose of prayer is not to change God’s mind but to change ourselves, and we can be slow to move. When have you found that persistence in prayer strengthened your faith in the presence of God with you in that struggle? The context of the story may be a concern about the delay in the final coming of the Lord. Have there been times when your persistence in prayer, or action, was eventually rewarded after a period when you had doubts about the outcome? What, for you, have been the fruits of persistent prayer? Behind the story lies the final question of Jesus: Who does have faith? Who have been models of faith and trust in God for you? How has that trust been shown in their lives? How is it shown in yours?
