God Sent His Son so that Through Him the World Might be Saved.
In celebrating this week’s Feast – The Exaltation of the Cross – it is important to remember that the life of Jesus, like all of our lives, was not a series of separate, individual moments, but one life, beginning at conception and then building, until our life ends and we move on to where we were always meant to me – with God. The Cross, therefore, while it is the defining moment of Jesus’ life, cannot be viewed apart from everything that went before and everything that came after that moment. Conception, birth, childhood, baptism, miracles, parables, preaching, encounters with others, betrayal, death, resurrection are all part of one single life, and all reveal God’s infinite love for us. When we celebrate the ‘exaltation of the Cross’ we are, in fact, celebrating ALL of Jesus’ life, because, as Pope Francis said in ‘The Joy of the Gospel’, “the Cross is nothing else but the culmination of Jesus’ life”. It is also important for us to remember that when we ‘exalt the Cross’ we are not ‘exalting suffering or torture or humiliation’; we are exalting a love so great that God gave his only Son so that we might actually see and experience this love for ourselves.
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” is a prayer that will sustain us for life.

The theme for the Season of Creation 2025, which runs from September 1st to October 4th, is peace with creation. Our hope: Creation will find peace when justice is restored. There is still hope and the expectation for a peaceful Earth. To hope does not mean to stand still and quiet, but to act, pray, change, and reconcile with Creation and the Creator in unity, repentance and solidarity.

Rosary will be recited in Clara church at 11.00am on the Sundays of October for the Month of the Rosary. Come and Join in this ancient and beautiful prayer!
Confessions are available on request after Saturday Morning Mass or any other time.
