Come and find peace in the Lord.

The New Year invites us to begin again with hope. We step forward not trusting in our own strength, but in God’s faithfulness, which is new every morning. Christian living is a daily choice to love, forgive, and serve, even when it is difficult. As the year unfolds, we are called to walk humbly with God, listen to His Word, and let our lives reflect Christ’s light to others. Each day becomes a fresh opportunity to grow in faith and to live with purpose, gratitude, and love.
Happy New Year to All!

‘And the Word became Flesh and Dwelt Among Us.’
The opening statement in today’s Gospel, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” is one we could reflect on in prayer for the rest of our lives, always finding something new and fresh in it. Now move from that statement to the statement, “He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him.” Again here we find ourselves face to face with a Love which we cannot even begin to imagine, let alone understand. The Jesus who walked this Earth was the eternal Word of God who created everything that exists. He is here among us, and we are sometimes so caught up with ourselves and our own tiny universes that we do not see him. Think of the humility and gentleness of a Love that can accept that. We wouldn’t exist at all except through the Word of God, and he never forces himself on us, never reminds us that we owe him everything. He tells us how to find true happiness, to enter the Kingdom of God – by forgiving, sharing, being tolerant, being compassionate – and then waits patiently and humbly until we are ready to see it. What Love that is! And so we come to the end of another Christmas. We can, if we choose, put Jesus back in his box with our crib figures, OR we can leave the Jesus figure out where we can see it every day. Then each Sunday for the rest of the year, when we hear the Gospel read, we can remember that it is the same child we are reading about, and it is the same eternal Love, the Word of God, Jesus we are meeting.

May Jesus, The Prince of Peace, help us to live in his peace every day. Amen.

On the Feast of the Epiphany of Our Lord Jesus Christ,
God of all, be our daily star that guides our lives, as we search for your love. May we always follow your light of truth in all that we do. Forever trusting, hoping and believing in your word. Lift our eyes to the Heavens, so we too may follow your guiding star, as we travel home to you.
Amen.
