God sent His Son so that Through Him the World Might be Saved!
There is but one God, but within that one God there are three distinct ‘Persons’, each of them being ‘Love’ itself, because ‘God is Love’. Within the God (Love) there are three distinct persons, manifestations of the Love. This week’s Gospel is really so simple, although trying to explain it is quite confusing. While John’s words are not fully formed into a doctrine of the Church which can be analysed and explained, they say all that needs to be said about the nature of our God. “For God so loved the World that he sent his only Son, so that all who believe in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Love is always at the centre of this. It is Love that is always active. It is ONLY Love that is at work. It is Love the that came to us in Jesus (the Son). And it is this same Love of Father and Son, which is the Holy Spirit, the power of Love to transform us and our world. Father, Son, Holy Spirit united in just one word, LOVE. The nature of God is a mystery that is beyond our understanding and our imagination. Anything we say about the nature of God is wrong – because God is so much more – infinitely more. All we can know about God is what God revealed to us, and even that is no more than weak, human words. When Moses asked God who he was, he answered, “I am.” Two words, three letters which reveal all we can ever know of God’s inner life. God IS.

Prayer Before Exams
Loving God, be with me now as I prepare for my exams.
Thank you for the many talents & gifts you have given me,
and for the opportunity of education. Calm my nerves & anxiety,
Help me to remember all that I have studied, to express it clearly and to answer the questions to the very best of my ability. Holy Spirit, sit with me in my exam – and always. Amen.
A Student’s Prayer
Father, please clear my mind and give me the understanding and knowledge that comes from you. Bless me as I take this exam and bring the information that I have studied to mind when it is needed in this exam. Grant me favour as I begin this test. I ask this in Jesus’s name.
Amen
May the souls of all our Beloved dead who are buried in cemeteries in the parish rest in the Eternal Joy and Peace of God, the father of all life!
